A "broken lock"

Hey,
About two or three weeks ago when i got my southord lockpicking set i tried raking one of my kwikset deadbolts. As a result of me being stupid and trying to pick a deadbolt as my first lock the lock kind of "broke". It still works with the key if you turn it as ahrd as you can and it is hard to get the key out of the lock now. the outside lock works fine but it's the inside one thats broken. Is there any way to fix this problem?

is that the lock that's attached to your front door?

if so - you poor sod... that'll teach you to muck arround with locks that you actually need for security.

if not (or even if it is) then you can take it apart and see what's wrong - it could be a number of things depending on how it was mis-treated when you were picking it.

could be that it's master keyed (common if you're in an appartment block or something) and a very thin master pin has got caught or bent or something.

could be that a spring has been broken (I've done this by trying to simulate a plug spinner by moving the tension wrench really really fast by hand..

could be something else entirely - just take it apart and see. - if you don't know how to take it apart - romstar wrote a long post a while ago on disassembling deadbolts that you should be able to find by searching..

If the inside thumbturn isnt working, did you break the tailpiece? Take the lock off the door, its the only way you are going to figure it out.
