What type of lock is this?

Postby ControlAllDelete » 11 Nov 2011 18:15

Hello all, first post! And a good reason for it too...

I got locked out of my apartment one day, and I tried to stick something in the keyhole...the light right on top of it turned green, but it didnt neccessarily unlock it. It's obviously not your run of the mill lock, so it's not like I could just stick a bobby pin in at and have at it. Needless to say, I had to wait until my mom arrived to give me another key. But just for safe reference/future, can anyone give me information on what kind of model this is or how to unlock it/how it works? Thanks. Here's the picture:

you download GIMP or PAINT.NET and Resize it to 800x600 before you up load it somewhere ;-)

I changed the IMG tag to a URL link.

Is that photo sideways? Can you take a better photo? The key your mom gave you must have some writing on it, what brand is it?

It kind of reminds me of the Winkhaus Bluechip but I don't think it is :?

I think it should be a forum requirement that when people ask how to get into their locks like this, they are required to post a well lighted whole door/item picture with at least 3 people in it holding up a poster board sign saying something along the lines of "This IS my lock. How do I get into it? I cant call a locksmith." ;)

We don't need a photo with someone holding signs. Since it's an apartment, it's not his lock, and he would therefore need to speak with the apartment manager about getting in rather than attempt to pick it.
