Postby XRSTR » 14 Nov 2011 19:59

What kind of lock is this and what pick would be best at getting it open? I've searched online for similar looking locks to no avail. Please help... I'm so confused lol!

If I had a nickel for every guy who came here with a cell phone photo of a lock and asking the best way to pick it... Call a locksmith if you're locked out, that lock is not for beginners, so it would be a waste of everyone's time trying to teach you how to pick it over the internet. The best way to open that lock is with the keys that came with it.

We also have this thing here where we don't pick locks if they don't belong to us and that lock looks like it is on a business or an apartment building, so I'm sure the owner, or landlord, or campus police, or local police would not be too happy with someone picking it. We pick locks here for fun, as a way to solve a puzzle, kind of like solving a Rubik's cube, but we don't pick locks to get into places, and we don't teach people how to get into places.

Sorry,

I'm not too familiar with the lock in those pictures. At least not the way it is mounted. The one's I usually see are secured within a "clamp" or a "jaw" of some kind.

It might be worth giving this tool a try. http://www.dealextreme.com/p/column-locks-tool-17621
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

it's the door to my friends cosmetic business. He bet that I couldnt pick it so I told him of course that I could however... havent been able too...

Its got like some sort of "L" latch on it. the bottom of the verticle part of the "L" drops down to secure the door once its locked. Hope that helps you help me :P

haha.. sorry, we're not here to resolve bets. It's an aluminum door frame with a generic SC1 mortise cylinder and Adams-Rite hook bolt. Us telling you this will not help pick it.

Have fun, this thread is locked.
