When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Options for Beginner

Postby Kyl3 » 7 Nov 2011 3:51

Hi all,
I have been interested in trying lock picking for a little while now, and I have been browsing the forums lately. I came across a great thread "What To Buy. Picks Sets For Beginners." and it really helped a lot. I am not positive lock picking will be something I totally get into and want to continue doing forever, however, it seems interesting and it could definitely be useful (especially when I am at work). I was considering these basic sets for starting out:

- Southord MPXS-08
- HPC PIP13
- Peterson Series A or B shirt pocket set
- Peterson "The City" set

Would any of these be a good choice? If you guys have any other suggestions, they would be most helpful and I would greatly appreciate it. Again, I am trying to see if lock picking is something I would like to further pursue, but it is something I would definitely be using every once in awhile at work.

Thank you.

My first kit was the Southord MPXS-08 (I got the tarnished one, it was cheap and it works well.)

Just take some fine sandpaper to it to round the edges and make the picks shiny, you'll get better feedback.
