electric srike installation

looking for some tips on finding an easier way to mortise wood for an electric strike (not necessarily electric just that these a lot to be cut to be cut out to fit in the post), right now i am using a chisel and hammer for lack of good ideas.

I like using Forstner bits. They leave a good clean work area, only as deep as you need it, and whatever overlap is left you can then go to town with a chisel and hammer.

Several suggestions: Mix or match.

1. Use a router
2. Use a Dremel
3. Use a roto-zip type high-speed tool
4. Drill the corners and outline with a 3/32" bit and connect the dots with the chisel. Keep the chisel really sharp.

In my work, i always look on the practical side. if i have one or two lock strikes to make, a 1/4" and a 1/2" chisel, a hammer. will do the job. on your part seems that you're not comfortable with those. also if you dont have the power tools been suggested by fellow members, hire a handyman to do it.. rather than buy a power tool for a few strikes to make. regards.
