I have a lot of locks hanging around (mostly cheapo master locks) that are very grungy and rusty. For someone of my skill level (beginner) it makes SPP difficult. Any tips on lossening them up? I was thinking of a WD40 wash, followed by either graphite or oil. Any suggestions?
I would wash them with brake cleaner then spray them with a liquid lubricant of your choice. WD40 won't hurt despite advice not to use it. It wouldn't be my preference but it will work OK. If you put it back in service look for a dry film lubricant.
