Making a cutaway

So, i've been wanting to make a cutaway for a while now but the only problem is the tool. I have a dremel and my dad thinks the metal for the lock is too hard to cut and that the tool will be ruined. Asking all the people that made cutaways, is this true? I wanted to get some advice before cutting just in case i realize afterwards that I need more heavy duty equipment.

I finally did it! with a hand file and 2 hours (1 hour of filing, and another hour of looking for lost pins) i made a cutaway lock

well, here it is! please give feedback since im new to all this

If you have the patience to, try to go down a bit further so you can actually see the sheer line and a smidge of the plug. With a low end cylinder like that you may or may not be able to do that while maintaining the structural integrity of the cylinder.

i don't think im at the point of high security locks yet lol i've yet to try spool pins but im going to try and make money to buy some locks with spool pins. i consistantly do master locks, kwiksets, and handcuffs. handcuffs are easy though. When I get to that level, i'll take you up on your offer though! thanks

What tools are you using and how long does it take you to create a cutaway from something like a Kwickset deadbolt lock?
