Abloy padlocks on ebay

Postby vtzeeprr10 » 10 Dec 2011 15:11

I see these Abloy padlocks selling on ebay uk for pretty cheap , even the 362 , but none of them are sold with the Abloy Protec duplication cards
It makes me wonder are these padlocks legit or what ? are these Protecs really sold in the uk this way without any duplication cards or these ebay sellers are just a bunch of bums ?
Any idea what kind of key level they are ?
UK bros - please chime in

Thanks
Robert

i bought one. they are legit. however the order info sticker on the box was ripped off. for as cheap as i got it, i dont really care. if u want one with an authorization card, i'd suggest buying it from www.securitysnobs.com for slightly below retail instead of from ebay.

Thanks bro
I don't need the duplication card at all , I just don't understand where the heck all these padlocks came from and what key level they are if they don't come with the card
Maybe they are refurbs or something ? maybe that's why the are so cheap and come without the card

Did you bought 362 ? was it totally brand new one ?

It's ebay.. ebay is a big surplus yard sale, they're not an authorized Abloy reseller. I know that at my company we bought some Abloy padlocks and I know we didn't use at least 1 of them on the project, so I may put it up on ebay brand new in it's box with 2 Protec keys, but no way in hell am I including our Abloy card from SecuritySnobs.com because then I can't make copies for my other Abloy keys and padlocks. The card also allows you to know our company name and other information, but if I sell the padlock on ebay via my private account and send it from my house, you won't know what company the padlocks belonged to or were used by, and then I just give the money to my boss who puts it in dept budget for other projects or for office pizza party fund. That's why not all of these locks have cards with them.

Squelchtone: I'll buy it but I want pizza too ;)

Also I never thought about all the info on the authorization card, thanks!

Well, I was wrong, there isn't anything about the business on the card, I just checked some of ours at work. It does however list the type of Protec, and some other codes and account numbers, but not our company name or any key bitting as far as I can tell. I still think that if a place sold off some spare locks, it would be wise to not sell their card in case they need keys made for the locks they still have in service.

At the end of the day, if the lock is cheap enough to begin with why should a card matter? Just buy another one if you loose the keys for as cheap as the first.

Don't forget the cost and messing about you have to go through with higher key levels to get duplicate keys!
What a load of old BiLocks!!!!

I'm probably 0 for 400 in looking for safes behind wall paintings
