Recently picked this up. Posted with a 250/250 for size reference.
I have a question for anybody that know. I do have keys and the previous owner appears to have drenched it in some type of oil to get it working smoothly. There is rusty oil coating the shackle and ball bearings. I was wondering if it is possible to take it apart for cleaning. There are no screw holes in the side and the detainer? drill protection? thing on the bottom spins if you put a bit of pressure on it and turn.

I am wondering if perhaps it was pushed in and a retainer clip popped out when it got far enough in?

Im not sure if discussing this falls under the advanced section or not so forgive me if it does.

I'm not familiar with this body from Abloy, but usually they have a grub screw that sits behind the longer part of the shackle that can be accessed from the side ONLY when the lock is unlocked and the shackle is raised.

Abloy used two types of screw as far as I am aware. On the higher security models (protec/exec/disklock) they used a grub screw which you can remove at will, and on some of the lower security (classic/profile) it is still a grub screw of sorts, but it can't be removed with an allen key since they sheer them off at the factory after they are tightened. If it is the latter, you will need to drill it, and let me tell you now, it's not easy, you will break drill bits, and possibly scar the lock cosmetically.

Just noticed one is a Protec. I'd say this is the one you should have no problems dismantling

The 3056 is quite a bit older. Its from around the time they stopped using brass and switched to the steel i think. There is no access holes to take out a screw, and its not held in place with a screw since it will spin around. I figured that it was some kind of spring clip that expands when the plug part is inserted. So basically not removable, but I was hoping somebody would know of some way.

I'd take a guess and say that any patents on those locks are now well expired... the Protec just (if not soon), the other one (profile/classic?) a loooooooong time ago I should imagine.

I meant if there was a patent drawing of this specific padlock design that I could look up so that I could see how that piece is held in.

Yep you're right, 2019... my bad!

Like I said originally, I've never had this type of padlock in my hands to see the structure and assembly of them :/
