Type of Lock?

What type of lock is a lock with what looks like an hour glass hole for the key. I'm new to this hobby and i'm looking to move on to new locks and stuff but i don't know what the terminology is...they are on padlocks and vending machines...as so far as i have found them if you guys need pictures i can post some. all help is appreciated! :)

It is probably a disc detainer lock. You cannot pick them. How they work is restricted to the Advanced forum which you do not yet have access.

You will not find any help on how to get into these types of locks for obvious reasons.
