Hi
GEGE locks are German ... very difficult to pick ... I believe but I'm not sure they come from the old DDR
the only way to pick them I know is the manual pick gun
my 2 cents

I thought GeGe were austrian? I think Derk said so at one of the earlier impressioning competitions, back then before we switched to Nova.
Anyway, while they can be quite nasty, I've managed to open mine with the gun, too or with light continous raking and a small tension wrench (smaller than a windshield wiper), so that you have a lot of space in the keyway.
Greetings to France btw
It's not the tools that open the lock. It's me.

I have to agree these are a nightmare to pick still not managed to succeed with the manual picks. Everest double glazing fit them over here.

Yo !
I have somewhere a picture of the new GEGE looking like the BILOCK or the DOM with 2 rows of pins
I've tried to pick the standart GEGE by hand different times without success
May be GEGE is Austrian ...
anyway ... give it a try with a bump key !!! it could work !
greetings

I got one of those locks on my front door. Landlord replaced a perfectly good Mul-T-lock when I wasn't there!!! (couldn't keep it ).
Anyway, my key says ANS-2 on it and it looks like this:
I have no idea what the little thing at the bottom does. My key also has a 'dimple' on the side, half way between the 1st and 2nd pin and halfway from top to bottom of key. It isn't shown in the picture above.
I also include the text in german below, if anyone would be so kind as to translate it.
I saw the mushroom pins and all the rest of it and decided not to even bother trying. (Have you seen the freaking keyway profile too?!?!)
Anyway, looks like if anyone wants to come in my place they'll have to go through the door with a sledgehammer instead.

I just took a look at their website http://www.kabagege.at/ , the relevant info is in a pdf: http://www.kaba.at/web/webprodukten.nsf ... linder.pdf
Well, I can tell you what the little thing at the bottom does, it's there to poppy _ the customer!
Or as they put it, there's a certain pattern on it that has to match the pattern on the key, otherwise you can't insert it fully. As if you couldn't file it away! They do this because they can patent their keyblanks this way to keep Silca and the others from selling them and maybe establish some restricted keyways. But to sell this as a security measure, you have to write it down as you probably couldn't tell it to a customer in person and keep a straight face.
It's not the tools that open the lock. It's me.

LOL
and to think people go all the way into making sidebars and suchlike to thwart lockpicking when the answer is a simple little thingy at the bottom of the key blank to 'prevent full insertion of the wrong key'.
Ah well, there's a myth de-mystified.
Any news on the dimple on the side? None of the pictures show it, but it's in my key!! So it must be used for something.

heres as much of the german as i could translate.
the stuff in blue i couldnt find and the ones in parenthesis dont really make sense
The Kaba-Gege safety cylinder (indicates) by itself (best) (high) change (off) (stop position(system) comes in 5, 6, or 7 pin cylinder by its extra levels (diversity). The patented key can at request with 11 Farbclips valorized become. This patented system allows (authority/priority) Abtastschutz by Profilüberlappung and anti pick Gehäusestifte.

as I just was translating something else I might just go on
Kaba-Gege is just the name (gege belongs to Kaba now, as it seems)
Farbclips: colored clips for color coded keys I don't see how this adds to the value, but thats marketing for you
Abtastschutz: protection against manually decoding a lock
Profilüberlappung: fancy word for extreme paracentric keyway (I'm not quite sure about this one, but that is the only thin that makes sense to me)
Gehäusestifte: driver pins
picky, picky

so basically it's really sales gurb which doesn't confirm or outrule a side dimple style mech in addition to the virtual pin locking mech.

Despite all that gobbledigook, just looking at the keyway is enough to make someone go pale. The picture really doesn't do it any justice. It is extremely tight and has around 4 grooves!!
The colour coding scheme is actually quite useful, nto for security, but for a 'one key' solution to your house. It's their masterkey concept and the colour coding enables you to know which key opens what locks (can set them by order of security).
This is just a guess, but with that concept then most secure lock is not mastered at all, and other less important locks are. (or can be).
Anyway, thanks for the translations.

Even the basic stuff is :
Very well made
Uses very tight keyways
Uses variable height top pins
All top pins are double serrated

I translated it.
KABA Gege ANS2 of the Kaba Gege safety cylinders draws by extremely high variation options out that for stop system lends to that 5, 6 or 7stiftigen cylinder by its levels additional variety. The patented key can be revalued when desired with 11 color tie-clips. This patenierte system grants highest scanning protection by profile lap and Anit Pick Gehaeusestifte.
