Maximum differnece in height between to bitting positions

Sorry if I'm using the wrong terminology.


if you are making up a bitting for a key, is there a "maximum" difference that you should not exceed between two positions that are beside each other..

eg. going from a "1" to a "9" is to extreme of an angle to cut into the key so it will get stuck in a lock.

I do believe every lock manufacturer has different standards for this. It is called MACS.

You will have to find out what they are for which ever lock you are working with. They can all be found online, either by asking here or doing a bit of googling
