bump key opinion

Postby nattan » 14 Jan 2012 23:39

Well I have been reading up on bump keys and I have had this set for about 2 years as lock picking has been an on and off hobby of mine, anyways I bought the set off a guy from ebay. The bump keys were machine cut. And in two years( on and off ) I have never opened a lock with them as they were cheap it would not bother me if they are useless. I would just like to get some opinions if they were cut too short or I need to work on my technique.

as the image is a little big and does not display properly here is the link:

@nattan:

Those bump keys are basically useless...

The KWI bump key spacing is off and there are hardly any "peaks" or "ramps" between the different bitting positions... The same glaringly obvious problem of spacing on the SC4 key as well, also those tiny "nibs" don't look like they are transferring much energy to the pin stacks... The M1 key has cuts that look like they aren't the same depth and width across the key...

Those may have been "machine cut" but they are REALLY BAD duplicates...
