Need some info on where I can sale stuff

Postby dannydizzan » 15 Mar 2012 11:42

Hi, I wanted to sale some things, but I have not met the requirements of the Buy-sale-trade forum. I do want to comply with the rules, so I am ok with the fact that my post was deleted. I am asking now if there is a place that locksmiths will be able to see what I have for sale. Some of the sites want proof you are a professional. I don't have that because it is my fathers stuff. I was thinking eBay, but I wanted to see if there was a better place for selling locksmith stuff.

Thanks,
Daniel

Please put your location in your profile... it will make it much easier for all users to assist you.
Directions for updating your profile:
1. Top Left hand corner of the screen look for the group of blue boxes.
2. Click on "profile".
3. When the next screen comes up, click on profile. ( on the new screen, not the same "profile" as the last step)
4.Find location ( 7th box down)
5. Fill in your location
6.Click "submit" ( bottom of screen)

Ideas to sell your stuff:
In no particular order:
1. Craigs List
2. E-bay
3. Local news paper
4. Bulletin boards at super markets ect
5. Do search for locksmithing web sites /organizations
6. Ask your local locksmith or your Dads business acquaintances
7. http://www.clearstar.com/public/pubboard.htm will allow you to post questions

Thanks keysman. I was going to try Clearstar, but I wasn't aware of a public forum. Some other locksmiths I have spoken with suggested I sell on eBay and i would make more profit, but I work full-time. I still may try to do a little at a time.

I work full time too but at night I take photos and put stuff on ebay, and then you wait 7 days and people bid or use the Buy it now or Best Offer system and then you get money put in your Paypal account and then transfer it to your checking account. Other than paying ebay and paypal their percentage which is like 10% or so, It's a fabulous system. I make cash all the time selling locks to lock collectors who just sit on ebay trolling for cool lock stuff, heck, I'm one of those guys as well. They'll eat your lock right up, so take a night out or a weekend and post your stuff on ebay.

Its not the posting and the pics. Its going to the post office and packing and sorting. I will have to list a few Items at a time or I will be up to my ears in orders I'm sure. I will do it though to help my family sell this stuff. I really don't mind if I sound like that

Ah, I thought you were just selling that old time lock from your first post on the forum, I didnt get to read your buy/sell/trade post, it was edited before I got there.

hang around a little more, add to the conversation, and you'll be able to sell here in no time.

Craigslist may work for your situation better because all you have to do is meet a local buyer and trade cash for goods. Nothing like meeting a stranger at the mall parking lot on a Sunday morning to exchange property for cash, bring print out of craigslist ad in case person disagrees on conditions in person, or if cops stop by thinking you're trying to buy stolen goods.

=)

How about a local locksmith school? Students are always looking for tools and supplies to work with while they are learning, and to start a new business with. Especially key cutters. Post an ad, talk to the class if you can, and see who calls you. No shipping necessary :)
