I am thankful to this blog since it was Eyes_Only that led me toward F&B instead of the Assured Locksmith Training Course.
I am at the part or the course where i am trying to do key impression, and it is the toughest part I have done so far, and is taking a lot longer than all the rest of the courses. But that being said it is teach me how to recognize the imprints.
Over all i have been impressed with this course and have learned a lot of round about info. In a field that changes daily I really doubt there is any course other than hands on that is going to teach you all of it. Also a persons environment has a lot to do with what is practical for you to know. I live in Alaska and will get more my business in lockouts and key making than with anything else, like security systems, safe deposit locks, safes, etc.
So for what I am looking for this course has taught me what i need to know to start up my business and by giving me a student card and soon a diploma, it allows me to buy the tools that I will need right now. While not all locksmiths may recognize locksmith courses as qualifying a person, I bet it would show most locksmiths employers that a person had enough interest to put themselves through a course to learn the basics. As an employer I would put a plus sign next to an applicants name for have doing so.
Unlike most people here I am 10 years away from retiring and looking at this to help supplement my income. But if I have learned in life, education is ongoing and Foley Belsaw is just the first stepping stone in doing something with yourself that you are interested in.
