tin box lock

Hello

I am trying to find out the best way to pick the lock on this tin

Image

Now I am sure this is an easy lock for you experts but it will be my first. I didn't even know what kind if lock it is to search the forums

It was part of my wife"s grandmother"s estate, rather than have them take a hammer to it I said I would try to pick it.

ANY help would be great

Thanks

Jon

Take the box to your local locksmith. It will be cheaper /quicker than buying/ making picks and learning how to pick .
You can also take a look for Grandma's keys .. the correct key will be smaller than a regular house key.

The box is probably worth less than half of what a good smith will charge to open it and make keys.
Look around for a replacement with keys if you need a box.

it's probably a cheap lever lock in my opinion. But i'm no expert. Look up how to pick lever locks. It might also be a warded lock (close to lever lock maybe?)

Im guessing its not the best lock to learn on then. Ive looked high and low for the key.

I have a fairly well stocked workshop and could make the right tools. Are there any pointers with this kind of lock?

Thanks

Lol forgot to refresh the page before posting sorry.

The tin is not worth much, it has somthing in it. It probably hasnt been opened for 30 years.

It was more of a project for me.
