Broken car key

Postby pilip » 27 Apr 2012 21:26

I'm trying to remove about 10mm of key left inside the door lock of a Mitsubishi. I have made some pullers, but the trouble is with two sets of sprung shutters which make it really difficult... Any clues?

Pull the lock out and disassemble it.

If you dont want to do that, you can also sometimes to 1 torsion wrench (or two) just as wide as the spring shutter and just barely insert them, letting the spring shutter hold them in place, and they hold it open for you to work on.

If you don't want to call a locksmith you can simply turn the car upside-down and shake like mad and the key will sometimes drop right out.
