Will UK Picks work for US locks?

Postby SeaWookie8 » 15 Sep 2011 9:14

From what i understand the UK picks are just designed for smaller keyways so will they work well with US keyways? Sorry if this is a noob question but alas i am a noob. Thanks for any help.

a slimline set will be good for anything, just go easy on them they bend easilly

Just be gentle on them and make sure the pins in the lock are lubricated and free before picking.
Not really for novice hands as gentle pressure comes with practice.

I actually prefer slimline picks. But that's just me.

slimline picks are great. but you would need to be using a soft approach when using them. but as most would say use regular picks that is if your heavy handed

but if you not heavy handed than go with slimline picks

This was one of my first questions before choosing a pickset, thankfully I dug the answer up somewhere and ordered some slim southord picks.

I'll second the post above. If you're picking right, slimline will be fine for, like, 99% of the locks you come across. If you're worried about it, buy a standard short hook and put it in your kit as well. It won't cost but a few dollars and if you get it in the same order you won't pay 8 bucks to ship a 2 dollar pick. Believe me there's little more frustrating than that.
