Why does my rake pick have two sides?

I have a rake pick included in my set and it seems to be double sided. One side has more bumps than the other. Why would my rake have two sides and when is it beneficial to use one side over the other?

You're pick is upside down in that pic. You need to flip it over.

If it does not work, flip it back over and use the other side.

The under cuts are there for several reasons, 1 to reduce stress points in the metal, 2 to reduce cost because less material is used, 3 to give you more room inside the lock to move the pick up and down while negotiating the pins.

I agree with squelchy on #1 and 3 but as to reduce cost, are they recycling the scraps and cutoffs? I suppose so because every toolanddie shop has to get rid of waste metal

I think the cost savings would be pretty insignificant, if not non-existent...

The stress relief reason - I'll buy that. An arc has more surface area than a straight line, so any stress present would be distributed over a larger area.

I'm not sure that there is really that much stress on it though... My personal, inexperienced, opinion is that it's mostly because it looks cooler that way.
