Well my hobby finally paid off! I was working a very tough job my company was awarded and was finishing up the last few days, I also had family visiting and since they had children I needed to go buy a locking door knob for my room as I have guns. Not being acustom to grabbing the key, being tired from the job and eager to get the day started I locked myself out of my room one morning. My daughter and cousin went to work with me that day and all day she kept saying how are you going to open your room? Where are your lock picks? (In my room!) I told her I'll just figure it out when we get home. My cousin on the other hand kept calling me an idiot...lol. I took home 2 of the larger size paper clips and needle nose pliers to bend them into the shape I needed. After getting them in the shape I wanted it took all of about 20 seconds to get the door open!

I would just like to thank everyone here or that day I would have spent $75 on a locksmith coming over to help me. But I had much greater satisfaction as my cousin's jaw dropped when I yelled "GOT IT!!!" in under 2 minutes start to finish.

The impressive part isn't that you did it with paperclips, it's that you did it in under 2 minutes with an audience. There's some sort of quantum effect with lockpicking, at least for me. Being observed makes time slow down (or speed up, I'm not sure). A lock that I have picked a hundred times in 15 seconds or less will invariably take at least a few minutes with observers on hand. Good job.

Haha, awesome! Reminds me of when my ATV was stolen in 2010, the sheriff noted the ignition was destroyed and wanted to get it towed up the road to our trailer after recovering it. I used my auto juggler to find Ind that started it up, two years later, I still use it since I never bothered to fix it (and I finally found a use for those jugglers I'd had for years!)

Just what I was thinking. The thrill of opening the lock versus the feeling that with just 2 paperclips, all your guns could be gone...

Congrats on the lock. With kids in the house, did you lock up the paperclips?

The house is secure this is an interior door. Not worried about a break-in I was just concerned with the kids getting in the room. I am in the market for a full size safe that is not only fire resistent but water proof.

Bend over and prepare to PAY quite a bit of money to find a safe which is both of those things...

Anything, I imagine. I know somebody who had to buy new everything after a house fire; most of the damage to the contents of the house was by water from the fire hoses.

Brianetta is correct. I am not worried about a flood but I know that safes that protect against only fire do only half the job as much of the damage comes from all the water the fire department uses to put out the blaze.
