Buying lock picks...

Postby Kenniy » 6 Jul 2012 22:09

Hey, so I am new to lock picking and wanted to pick it up as a hobby. So I want to buy some lock picks online, and I was looking at a couple of sites to buy from and just want to double check if anyone knows that these sites are legit......

Also I noticed in that on the websites that it requires you to be a locksmith or other related profession to order the lock picks from the site, and I was wondering if it actually matters... Could I get away with just buying lock picks online without being a locksmith?

I use the lockpicks.com sometimes and I have never had a problem with them.

During checkout you have to click a box that states that you are not going to use them illegally. But other then that no, it doesn't matter for buying them.... But that is Oregon, I don't know if it matters in your state. As long as you can legally own them and they can be mailed in your state, you should be ok.

I have also used lockpicks.com. Ill tell you what, they were fast. I was picking in 4 days. I got the MPXS 11, its an 11 piece, stainless steel, set. Its worked out for me although i kinda wish i would have gone up a size just to get a few more picks-i'm a cheap bastard though so i didnt. If you go through these guys do an online search for coupon codes, i think i found one that got me 10% off(maybe from this site even?). I would try LP101 in the coupon field. if that doesnt work try googling 'coupon code for lockpicks.com'

As far as them not selling to non-locksmiths: just check the box that says you are one or are exempt. So far ive not seen any jackbooted thugs or govt. agents milling 'around town asking about unauthorized pick purchases and I live in California-one of the most legislative states around.

But some picks! Start opening locks! Let us know how it goes!

the idea that law enforcement needs to open peoples doors for an emergency like when an older person might be inside and hasn't been heard from for a few days, is the only situation when LEO lockpicking is less likely that the usual corruption that they are particularly prey to.
None of these sites is going to spend a dime to see who you are, they regard you as honest if the check cashs and getting you to check the box means they have covered their a$$es

figure it out, you need a years subscription to one of the those private eye people search operations to actually check out your customer and if the cash or check is good. no business man is going to make it more expensive to serve the customer.

The site is covering their backside .. it is illegal to send lockpicks through the USPS with certain exceptions.

I truely hope USPS burns in rotting hell for stupid regulations on things they don't understand. We can't get any battery powered devices here past double As. Apparently they went and banned the shipment of lithium batteries again....
