Who made this Craftsman lock?

I bought this lock off of eBay a couple of weeks ago and I have not been able to ID it yet. The 5 pin key is marked Abus so naturally I started looking there but still have not found a photo of one like it yet. The body appears to be laminated from the inside but is heavily chrome plated and polished so it looks solid from the outside. Ball locking, key retaining, it will come apart but I have not been brave enough to do it yet. The key hole has a red dot on one side and an uncolored one on the other. The lock operates very smoothly with no spring tension at all on the shackle, it has to be lifted manually when unlocked and does not automatically relock, with almost no effort required to turn the key in either direction. The only springs I can feel are on the pins. This is a very nice, big solid lock.

Yep, it's an ABUS. older model but made by them for Sears. They still make things for Sears, usually it's the Model 41 laminated. I like ABUS, the spool pins make it fun to pick, but not impossible so you wont get discouraged.

If that padlock was made in the 1980's, you probably won't find any photos of it on the internet. Maybe in an old Sears catalog or something.

Not that I saw, but I didn't really look too hard. That bottom plate worries me.. they dont make them that nice any more.. even the ABUS Rock which is an awesome padlock doesnt use that shape. Hang on to that thing, its a keeper.
