So I recieved one in the mail yesterday. Solid buy for sure.
[EDIT]
I've picked several standard pad locks (easily) thus far over the past about 3 weeks. I played with this practice lock for about 3 hours last night, and found it VERY hard to pick. I took it down from 6 to 2 pins and STILL had trouble. No security pins or anything. Standard deal.
My question is has anyone else bought this and found this to be the case? Don't get me wrong I'm happy with the purchase as it seems like a great buy. Also a secondary question: the actual pins that the pick head touches are seem to be more 'pointy' than my other say Masterlock No. 3.
Does the tip or point of the pin change much over different brands?
Thanks much,
dauce

Reason: Please dont post links to commercial sellers, it is against site rules. If they wish to pay for advertizing here, thats fine, but most of us already know the lock you're talking about, just mention it by description. These rules may relax at some po

I think you and I both posted about the same item, although I did it in a different section. Yes this lock is harder, and maybe a little more well built then most padlocks I have played with. That said, I had a issue with accidently bending pins. If this is the same company did you get one of those square barcode scanner links to a facebook page? If so did you find where the "how to pin" your lock was? I have the basic idea, but I couldn't find the link they were talking about, but half of the good stuff is blocked here so it might be plain as day for you. Also did you get the A-1 pick set with it? If so we got the same thing, and I gotta admit while the picks are great for beginners (flexiable and less likely to break) they drive me nuts.
Regardless to answer your question I can pick 5 pin padlocks no issue, but 3 pins on this, and it gets tricky vs a padlock. Might be how I am holding it.

Mark McGrath - Thanks so much! I feel a bit relieved. And yes I did get the A-1 picks. I too like them but they are different than my starter set I bought off of this site. They are more flexible - and not in a good way IMO.
I didn't check the facebook site thing yet but now that you mention it - I will.
Thanks again,

Lots of things are blocked, but can be bypassed for 96 dollars a month and you get a wopping 256kbs connection... If you are lucky. I am currently on a Marine base, and generally find Marines to be upstanding troops without all the crying, however this base has gone well out of there way block everything on and off work, to include most photo shareing sites, youtube, and the vast majority of free file storage areas that house completely legal free pdf files and the like. If you travel to other bases the internet is much better, and far less restricted, but different contracts mean more options. I had to get the 96$ internet just to purchase from said website, but luckily my purchase from the shop at the top of this forum didn't require it, and I could have done it at work.

Just wanted to follow up about this UPL. So at first it seemed almost impossible to pick even a 3 pin setup. Within a week I'm can now pick just about any combination of spool/regular drivers in the full 6 pin setup. This wasn't meant to be a review of a product, but for the lousy 40 bucks it was WAY worth it, and I continue to use it. The pick set that I sprang for is ishy though - I'd probably invest elsewhere. Not terrible, but a bit flimsy compared to the SouthOrd stamped set I have (5 piece).

Can't agree more I amgoing to review two starter locks, this being one later, but I really do like the lock and the setup myself. Also those A-1s are crap...

Only problem I have with the UPL is that I will occasionally have one pin stack that both upper and lower pin fall down into the key way when I set the others, then it rotates and catches and damages the upper spring. this is even when I'm using the longest of the to pins. Then I have to stop and remove the to and pull out the spring if my description makes sense. Maybe I'm alone with this problem? It's occasional and I otherwise LOVE the lock.

if things blocked means the advanced section, I could mention to you that the last post in the advanced section was by lauren some time in 2011. theres a lot of good information there, but it helps if you work your way into it by posting and understanding the common placethings that are posted in the open sections first. there actually are not magic words or other tricks there. abracadabra.

I'm not sure but I think he/she is on a military base where some websites/information is blocked. I don't think it was a reference to the advanced topics on here. Not 100% sure though.

Hi Rai While I agree to the "no magic" comment, there has been a lot of activity in 2012 as well. Maybe you should check back and have a look Cheers mh
