San Francisco lock safari w/pics! yay!

Postby atticRR » 7 Aug 2012 21:46

Went to SF over the weekend and while i was down there i couldnt keep my eyes off people doors, parking meters, utility boxes, etc... I'm sure you guys understand, lol. I noticed that Medeco is the HS lock of choice, all the parking meters were secured with them ( i think the symbolis for the biaxial?) and lots of doors as well-public and private. I finally found an Assa, i was pretty excited about that, its the first one ive seen-ever! The first pin looks really trippy, whats the deal with it? i'm sure someone knows. I also found 2 primus cylinders, only one is pictured. There is also an unmarked keyway that just has some sick looking wards..

The pictures you can see are followed by the HUGE version, i figured that anyone sick enough to want to see the lock will click through but i didnt want to jam up the site too much w/ large images.

Enjoy!

heres the ASSA!

In the IMG tags,dont put anything after .jpg such as ?t=12351535 just http://someplace.com/file.jpg and the IMG tag on the end.

I fixed a couple of your images. Nice find on the Medeco Duracam parking meter lock!!! =)

Can't wait to get the net running and see your photos. Remind me I have photos of some dimple rakes for you, and will be actually posting a review (used a ruler for you). Thanks for the post!

Oh my goodness!! I love that squiggly keyway in the stainless lever lock. Does anyone know which brand makes those keyways?

Awesome. While I live in Berkeley, you inspired me to take a nice close look at the parking meters where I work in downtown San Francisco today. Sure enough, there was that Medeco lock on every one! It's interesting because we have a similar model of meter in Berkeley but they don't appear to be using the same locks. Anyway, thank for sharing these! Hope to see you at one of the TOOOL SF meetings some day soon.

The "squiggly" keyway in that last picture looks like a Schlage "Numbered" keyway... 1467, maybe? They're all shown in the Ilco Directory.

@grundrakkon:

Not even close to the Schlage 1467, both of the wardings in the unknown keyway are the same size/shape which doesn't match the Schlage you referenced and the top of the keyway also doesn't come close to matching either...
