Euro Locks with thumbturn

Postby tipsy10 » 11 Aug 2012 12:08

Hi Folks,

I have a euro with a thumbturn on one side. How can I make the thumb turn spin all the way round like the keyed side does, as I'm wanting to replace the euro in door furniture and the cam needs to spin right round the let the door handle operate the deadbolt. ps I spent about 6 months as a locksmith in New Zealand a fews back,

Reg,

Tim

Hi,

You already asked this yesterday, so no need to double post. Please be patient when waiting for a reply, people don't always hang out here on the weekend.

Normally every euro cylinder I've ever seen the thumb turn turns 360+ freely, so are you saying your thumb turn is not turning all the way around? is the key inserted into the other side? remove the key and try turning the thumb turn.

Ps. I'll go lock your other thread now so at least you'll get your answers in one place.

Hi Sqelchtone,

Yes , sorry for the double post.

The thumbturn only turns and brings the cam to just less than halfway, with the keys out. it goes right round with the key in, so guess if anything can be done it will be on the keyed side. It's an interlock euro from New Zealand: http://www.joineryhardware.co.nz/aluminium-doors-window-parts.php?id=77 and sits with the cyclinder at the top, unlike most Euro locks in NZ that sit upsidedown leaving the pins on the upside making them easier to pick!

Thanks,

Tim
