I would give you my email address, but I don't see how an email from you would prove anything. You can say whatever you want and it would be no different than just saying it here.
If you really wanted to prove who you are, you could post your name and department (or send it to somebody in a PM for privacy), then have that person look up the phone number to your department online and place a call. Shouldn't take more than a few seconds to figure out if the guy that answers the phone is the same guy that wrote these posts.
Don't PM me though, because I can't afford an international call at the moment, lol!

(Actually, my email address is in my profile - click on my name and you can send me an email. Still, what I said before still applies.)

Feel free to send me one as well (click my user name, there should be an option to send me an email from there) - I'll be online for the next few hours (till at least 0600 UTC - maybe later).
I'll keep your email private.

Thanks josh66, ill send you an Email tonight while at work (tonight it 6 hours from now for me over in Australia) Squelchtone doesn't seem to have an email attached to his profile so ill PM him for one. Look forward to being confirmed so that I can get some advice on the lock (going to kick myself when I work out the trick to it as the drum is very very simple to pick)

toolish, since Squelchtone hasn't chimed in here I've sent you a pm with my email address. I'm a moderator not an admin, but I'd be happy to step in to help. I can keep any information confidential which you send, including your email address. Then we can put this issue to rest.
In the meantime I'm locking the thread to put an end to the squabbling. The OP seems willing to verify his identity so I think he deserves a fair shake. We can unlock the thread again once that's taken care of.

The original poster, toolish, has emailed me a verification of his identity. The level of fakery he would have to be engaging in at this point, goes beyond what is reasonable to expect a simple burglar to go through in order to bypass a storefront door. If anyone has any information that will help him out, please post it here. If it's a bypass method that can't be posted in the open forum, please PM it directly to toolish. Let's help this guy out so he can close his case.

Call a local locksmith and ask for a professional favor, or pay out of your own pocket for the locksmith to open it if your dept doesn't want to cover the bill and if it is that important to you.
I have been out of town, and havent had a chance to catch up on PMs and emails... Squelchtone

Thanks MBI for giving me a go and hearing me out. I know the whole thing is an odd story, but honestly most of what I do is usually in the odd category. The department may end up paying for a lock smith, But its not my family member that is missing so I am not opening up my wallet for this job. Unfortunate I don't know any locksmiths who I could ask for a favor to get me in, If anyone knows how to access this type of lock it would be nice. Other wise ill guess the smell from the garage will be enough to justify destroying a roller door or he will turn up somewhere and Ill grab him then. If it help anyone they are selling the style of lock on ebay and it seems to have a few pics that could help understand. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/B-D-Rollmast ... 0555173414

I understand not wanting to crack open the wallet for a case you're working on. Where do you draw the line? You do it for one case, then another... it adds up. I don't know what it's like down there, but with the heavy caseloads that cops here often have, it would be impossible to even consider starting down that road. Cops here often get a uniform allowance, to clean and replace uniform items as needed, but departments usually don't provide many of the other various tools that can be useful in law enforcement. The uniform allowance isn't enough to cover the costs of those extra items. Most cops I know just pay out of pocket for any extra equipment they need, beyond what's issued. At least it's their property that way so it's technically an asset they get to keep, but it can still get very expensive.
You could try lubing the lock, but as globallockytoo said if it's the bars that are jammed that could get more difficult. From the pics in the ebay auction I'm not sure there'll be a way to lube them from the outside. From the pictures, I don't see a knob so those locks appear to be turned with the key, so if a tension wrench isn't strong enough to turn it, I doubt a key would be either. Not without snapping off.

Yeah thanks mate, I spend way to much a year on extra gear for work as it is, I usually try to draw the line at things that will increase my level of safety. Ill easily spend $800 a year on stuff for work. Going to give the lock another go, try again the other direction to turn the plug, then ill try half turning the plug then using a solid screw driver to provide tension. Very odd lock almost no friction on the plug as it turns then just stops hard.
