Victorinox pick and my other homebrews

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Victorinox pick and my other homebrews

Postby murdoc » 20 Aug 2012 9:49

Hey, im new here and just wanted to share my projects with other enthusiasts.
The SAK is a Super Tinker in which i modified the parcel hook to have a SHTF "left my good picks at home" MacGyver style snake rake. It has no feedback but it works great.
The others are modified wiper inserts designed to fit my micro hand drill handle which are my "go to" picks. They include: long and short notched hooks, snake rake and short flat hook, half diamond and bogota, mountain scape rake and long worm. I designed them as combo picks to carry less on hand but have everything i need in a nice small package that fits in the pen slots in my spec-ops wallet.

Hopefully the picture shows up because it is not working in the preview. Thanks for looking.

Very nice! I did something very similar with a pin vice, one end is a short hook and the other is a city rake. I love it, glad to see someone else came up with the same idea

You talkin' to me? Cos if you are, yyyyyyyyup. They hold up surprisingly well for something you can file by hand so easily.

Pretty cool idea with the pocket knife! I may have to try that.

Too bad the tweezers can't be bent into a tension wrench and still fit in it's compartment.

Josh. I made a wiper insert tension wrench that snaps into the tooth pick slot. Its annoingly small but works.

Raimundo. Yes the stainless steel strips in wiper blades are what a lot of us use. Try it sometime.

I hear others are using street cleaner bristles to make these cool humpy-like rakes.

Many street cleaners use plastic bristles now, at least in smaller cities.

The last time I was in NYC (a few weeks ago) I picked up a few, and they seemed to be different than the ones I have found in the past. Still metal, but more brittle. They cracked with only minimal bending. Hardly worth the hassle of looking at the ground all the time. I suppose your milage may vary
