Lock pick sets in Perth?

Hi, does anyone know how I would go about getting a lock pick set in Perth, Australia? I'm interested in getting into the hobby, but not sure about getting a pick set. If anyone offer any advice, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

You will be best of ordering them online, they aren't illegal to own in Australia unless you have them with the intent of committing a crime. I don't know where would be a good place on line ( someone here would) but I use my Southord picks every day and have had the one set for many years now so I recommend these ones.

Really you only need something like this set and order some extra hook picks. Make sure you get the slimline ones, these feel a lot better to use.

Have you had a go at picking any locks yet?

If you want a recommendation for a set, for what it's worth, the Toool Beginner's blend set seems like a really good place to start. You get two different sized hooks which is what you'll use 99% of the time, a rake, a bogota (different technique than raking), a couple of diamonds, and tension wrenches. If they'll ship to you, you can get them here. I started with Southords, which I also recommend but only as a second choice as any set you get will have to supplemented with extra hooks because you can get a set with slim, or standard, but not both. Anyway, there are a multiple threads here that are dedicated to beginner recommendations for sets as well as places to buy them so have a look through those. I've only been doing it a couple of months but I've been thinking a lot about beginner sets since several of my friends have asked me what to start out with. Good luck!

I would agree with the beginners blend. Supporting a good cause and it is probably the only pickset that mixes several different branded pics in one set. Instead of having all made by the same manufacture.

I can't speak for the laws in the other states and territories but I can speak on WA law being a WA Police Officer. The offence is only committed if you intend to use them to gain unlawful entry to a place. The intention can be derived from the circumstances in which you are found with them but generally no it's not an offence to have them.

If you follow the golden rule you'll be ok: only pick the lock if you own it or have the consent of the owner.

As for ordering sets, it's no drama getting them imported. I ordered a Bogota flat set from ITS Tactical, it took just over two weeks to arrive, but that's normal. The rest of mine I've made myself out of bristles.

If you visit gadgetsdirect.com.au they have a pretty good set for a reasonable price. Thats where i got my first set and even though ive now got a Southord set i am going back to my first set every now and then just for different techniques etc.

Ive purchased quite a bit of stuff from this crowd

All of the lock picking stuff is pretty good - even if some is a little low quality
but so far its all been delivered
