Hi, welcome to the forum.

A lot of folks visit here with a problem lock and many times think we will know a cool secret trick to opening it. For most combination locks the fastest way will be to just dial 0000 to 9999. The only tip I personally give is that trying 1900-2012 is a good bet because people like choosing a year. Also 1234, 4321, 0000, 1111, 2222, 3333, is worth trying, as is 6969 and 0007.

maybe this video will help http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfsDMKkk26k

Let us know what it was once you open it.

And to post a photo, since the server is full, we upload to http://tinypic.com/ and paste the [IMG]http://tinypic.com/photo.jpg link in our posts.

Good luck,

I posted my reply 12 hours ago, you honestly could have sat there tonight dialing 1900 through 2012 at least and probably had it open by now.

Don't spend a day looking for the easy shortcut when an hour of actual time and effort dialing combinations will get the job done.

There is no secret hole to insert a bobby pin and pop that lock. I know that's what you're probably hoping to hear. I had a recent poster keep asking things over and over as if we were holding out on the correct answer.

Just start dialing, trust me.

Squelchtone has given good advise.. if you had spent a few minutes and tried 1 number every 5 seconds you could have gone through the 112 numbers in less than 10 minutes.

If you treat the lock like an older analog odometer and just roll the numbers you can cut that time/ number down considerably.

Hint: If you pay attention when you are testing each number, you may notice a slight difference when you hit a certain number, that will be the correct number for that wheel..

Try a shim along side of the wheels, feel for a flat spot or an indentation.
Once the flats or indentations are lined up it should open, if not try spinning
all wheels one at a time , ie if you come up with 1234 try 2345 then 3456 then 4567 etc.

I use an otoscope and look for anomalies next to the wheels.
Some are so tight between the wheel and housing this turns out to be impractical.

Well I tried the shim but I could never get those to work on any lock guess I don't really understand how to do that any advice or tips that could get me where I can get good at using the shims, how can I tell its a flat spot? Anyways I don't know looks like I am going to have too try trail and error and tips advice on that cause I don't really have the patience for that? Diffently a hard look to hack easily... Ahhh this sucks, never going to get in there agian... lol

PS. What about a sethascope? and what sounds would I listen for how would the click be different?

I don't believe your gonna be able to hear anything.
Do you have an ottoscope? The thing a doctor looks into your ear with?
I have two, the older you get the more you will need them.

What is this lock protecting? Is it your lock… cause you could have 0000-9999 it about 10 times since your OP. Squelchtone gave you really good advice, just do what he said for the easiest way. A picture of the real lock would really help also.

Different locks have different techniques, for this lock the method you use is called "trial and error". When you get the lock open, replace it with a pin tumbler lock and that we will help you learn how to open.
