My very first post here, so please excuse the elaboration and possibly excessive information.
Recently became interested in the scene and after gathering a bit of info and playing around with bobby pins (and wondering why I ever placed any faith in luggage locks) I purchased a few padlocks to play around with.
Considering the amount of cash spent on other (InfoSec related) hobbies, decided OK to splurge on a Southord set.
My first trial to test the well known Youtube knowledge was with a Yale Combination lock, but my real first personal triumph was with a small Yale Y110/20 padlock. That got me more interested.
Then I tried a TriCircle 264 which although refuses me any raking methods, still allows me to (usually..) open it up. But have to admit, it took me a wee while
to get used to it.
I also purchased a Yale Y120/60, which I will consider my Nemesis until further notice..Not a newbie friendly device me thinks/knows now.
OK, So finally my question, it you have read this far.. ;
With the TriCircle I really tried to follow the advice on feeling for every pin, and getting a feel of what that pin was doing.
It worked and I got it (blisters included.. great).
After a while of continuously testing on this padlock, I have a feeling that the method that works best seems to change.
Possibly (though I would say highly unlikely) I am getting a better feel for it, or is it the case that some locks become 'easier' or 'different' in picking styles when they have been severely punished (frequent trial and error with picking) for a week or so ?
I am very new to this scene but do normally have a decent analytical approach to things, I am finding however that sometimes the approaches require change when I would not expect it.
Do methods require change much with locks and specifically pin sequence ? Or am I simply (erroneously or not) setting pins that I did not previously consider ?
IE. one day a certain pin order works, another day another pin order seems to work instead of previously realised one ?
Anyways, hope someone finds the time/interest to read and respond to this post, many thanks in advance if you do
