Rain making S&G 8088 hard to turn

Postby Legion303 » 18 Sep 2012 5:41

I threw one of my 8088s on the garage, but my wife is reporting that it was "stiff and sticky" after it rained the other day. Anyone know why this would be? I thought these were designed to withstand the elements.

I am sure they have no seals so not sure why they would be good for use in wet conditions.

I am trying to find my early copies of the FF-P-110, which would have covered the 8088. I am pretty sure that the 8088 was required to be tested for the use in indoor and outdoor environments, to include aboard ships and salt water spray, like the 8077 is required to be now.

Granted with the age of any 8088, any internal lubrication has to be gone by now.
