New Lock Acquistion - U.S. Fort 727S Padlock

New acquisition today - a brass padlock, cheaper because it had a key broken off inside it. Markings are:
U.S. FORT on front, 727S on top. All brass, including the shackle. Don't know much about it, but I figured people here would. Don't let me down, folks!

The key was broken off just after the first pin, so the pin was helping to keep it in. Removed the key using an old E string from my guitar, with a tiny hook folded onto the end. When removed, it was obvious that someone thought the same way I do... the blade was knifed, the bitting was round. Someone was trying to impression the lock, used too much effort, and broke off the key. Oops!

I want to attach a picture, but every time I try, even on other topics, I am told "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached". If someone else can put up pics, let me know, and I'll email you the pics.

How to post images on the forum

Find a place to host.

You can either:

- upload your image to your own web server
- create an account with a free image hosting site such as
http://www.photobucket.com etc.

Uploading your own picture:

1. Upload to your prefered web server
2. Obtain the direct link to the image
3. Go to your post in LP101 and put the mouse where you want the image
4. Paste the URL (link) where the mouse is located
5. Now use the mouse to highlight this URL(link)
6. Either press the "img" button at the top of the post window
or Put [img]at%20the%20start%20and[/img] at the end of the link
Note: If you do not wish to have the image show up in the thread
and and only the link, skip step 5 through to 6. Also, if the image is large
(greater than 100kb) please post only the link to the image with a warning
stating the size of the image.

If you wish to show the image in your thread, ensure it is not a BMP file,
as these do not appear when using the image tags.

Congrats, you've just saved a nice old padlock! Now it's your turn to find a few blanks and impression a key for it.
