ShenMao Extra Plus Top Security Good Character padlock!

Postby jgor » 30 Aug 2012 20:00

I wanted to share with everyone my new favorite lock (click image below for full size), which I've dubbed the ShenMao Extra Plus Top Security Good Character padlock!

I found this high security lock tucked away in the back aisle of a dollar store. If I'm not mistaken it's a 3-disc disc detainer lock, and if it's not evident from the picture this lock is roughly the size of a luggage lock. What I fell in love with, though, is the description on the back and the personified padlock's plight against various attacks.

Here's the text so it's easier to read:

Wise choice- ShenMao Security Lock

ShenMao security lock is particularly designed for the social security. It contains a good character, and is specially suitable for those important places, such as family, warehouse, office and so on.

  1. Against versatile key: The internal construction of the lock has innovated and modified from the usual ball to the speciall multiple layers one. So the versatile key can not turn on the lock in any way.
  2. Against saw: Hardened steel shackle can not be cut by saw.
  3. Avoid to be prized: The device contains very hard Arsteel ball to pin the shackle and it is so strong that it can not be prized by force.
  4. Against drill: Hardened lock shaft cover can be against drill.

As you can tell this lock is fairly undefeatable... due I'm sure to its special multiple layers against the versatile key and prize-avoiding Arsteel ball. Its good character makes it especially suitable to locking up your family!

I also couldn't help but notice in the bottom left this padlock guy was pretty excited about getting drilled...

How can you trust your belongings to a lock unless it has good character? I just checked my Medico box, and it says nothing about having good character. I can't trust my Medico! Which dollar store sells this lock?

It's Medeco. Medico sells pipes for old men. Unless you were checking your pipe box ;-)

Medeco = MEchanical DEvelopment COmpany

Some people at my work call it Medco just like adults in the 90's called it Nitendo tapes without saying the NINtendo (cartridges.)

just a pet peeve of mine...

Just heard that they started selling these at Tiffany's. Have to take a trip to Rodeo Drive, in Beverly Hills, California to get one. 8)

How do you feel when the discs enter their gates if there is no tension? I'm no stranger to these locks, I can open them no problem but I wouldn't dream of tackling one without tension. I know the tolerances are really bad, but still.
