My first lock

i picked my first lock and i feel great

i'm not sure what type of lock it is but i can describe it and maybe post a picture later.

on the hull, just above the plug, the words "30mm" and below it are the words "Hong Kong". (probably where it was made)

it has around 22 layers from top to bottom and 4 bolts around the corners that make it look like they are holding it together.

i have realised that i only need to hit a pin near the back and it opens.

not sure why but.......

hey same with this lock i purchased at a 99 cents store. I went to buy a case but couldnt find one so i decided to get a lock. mines said 40mm and didn't say hong kong but the way to pick it was similar. the last pin seemed lower so I had to dig under it but once that was lifted it opened. oh and congradulations on your first lock success.

I have a couple cheap padlocks that are like that. With mine, you can actually pull back the bolt that holds the shackle in place by reaching all the way to the back of the lock and nudging it with the pick. If it opens but the plug doesn't turn, maybe that's what's going on. If the plug turns, then it's just a really cheap lock!
Maybe all the pins are cut to about the same height so you're lifting them all with your pick. Are the cuts in the key about the same depth?

alot of cheap padlocks, you only need to release the locking tab to open

actually thats what i was gonna say. on the way to the back you actually lift all the ones in the front. The shear line is so large that the pins just automatically set.
