How to pick this lock, lost the key to my cupboard

Postby mashhud1 » 9 Oct 2012 12:08

I lost the key to my cupboard and now need to open it. Could someone tell me what kind of pick I would need and a link to it on Amazon please? Here are pictures to my lock

It looks like you could manage with a steel wire bent in L-shape and other end bent to form a handle.
Let us know how did it go.

I'm just pulling your leg :)

This lock may be a warded lock, not one of the most fun to pick. I'd suggest you to go to a antique shop and look for a key that fits. It's easy to find one that works.

Goods luck :)

You don't need to open it, it's already open. Unless you decided to take pics of the backset one day completely out of the blue. ;)

I'm with femurat. Since the lock is currently open I suggest unscrewing it from the back to take it apart and taking it to a locksmiths. Or, failing that, an antique shop might have a key which will work. Let us know how you get on. 8)

Looks to me it could be still locked cause the first picture the lock is on the right side of the closesd locked door the second picture is of a different unlocked door with the lock on the left side. :D

You asked for Amazon link here you go.
Here is a ring of 10 antique furniture keys one or more will probably work that lock and you will have a bunch to add to your collection if they don't.

Been my experience keys that look like this one on the end works that size lock but it is a gamble sight unseen in person. The above ring of keys you have 10 to choose from .
