You do know that this is a site for people who pick locks as a hobby and as a sport right? I'm sure there are much better forums on the internet to ask alarm and camera installers what brand and model to get.

Yes, some locksmiths here may do some of that work, but I doubt they do all of it.

If you need advice on good deadbolt locks for your doors, we can surely help there.

I use IP cameras from Axishttp://www.axis.com/products/video/camera/index.htm

I have 4 in use with a router so I can access them worldwide. One of the cameras has a switched pair output tied to an electric strike. I tested this by letting my neighbour in remotely. I was in the UK, she called me from her cell at the front door; I verified it was her by looking at the view from my IP camera and released the door from the cell phone. The cameras also have motion detectors that can IM me if they detect motion, they can be configured to do other things when they detect motion.

BTW, it is the wrong section of the forum.

It would be best to spend some time becoming familiar with the different sections and the topics discussed within each before simply posting.

IP cams are nice, but I'd prefer gsm cams. Pictures or videos will be sent directly to your mobile. So you can call the police just when it happens, even if you're on the beach.
I can't recommend a specific model. Google will help.

CONGRATS ON THE NEW HOUSE!

I DEFINTELY RECOMMED GETTING CAMERA'S FOR YOUR HOME! I PERSONALLY INSTALLED 8 AROUND THE PERIMTER OF MY HOME AND CONNECTED TO THE FAMILY ROOM TV...AND LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING ABOUT CAMERA'S! ALWAYS BUY THE BEST BRAND WITH THE MOST NIGHT VISION DISTANCE!

IM TALKING THRU PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, CUZ I INSTALLED MY OWN SYSTEM AND MADE ALL THE WIRES HIDDING INSIDE THE WALLS AND CUSTOM PAINTED MOUNTS AND HOA PAINT MATCHED THE CAMERAS LOL...

ONE OF THE THINGS I EXPERIENCED WHEN BUYING THE CAMERAS, WAS THAT THERE WERE THE CHEAP WANAN BE BRANDS AND THEN THERE WAS THE EXPENSIVE BRANDS...SO THE FIRST BIG BOX I BOUGHT WAS THE REGULAR 8 CAMERA SETUP...BAD CHOICE

BECAUSE AFTER I MOUNTED THE FIRST ONE, I COULD HARDLY SEE ANYTHING AT NIGHT...AND TWO..IT LOOKED LIKE I WAS LOOKING THRU A PEEP HOLE THRU MY DOOR!

I THEN RETURNED THE WHOLE BOX AND ASKED MORE QUESTIONS, I THEN SELECTED THE SLIGHTLY HIGHER PRICED BOX...1ST..THE ANGLE OF THE CAMERA WAS BETTER AND COULD SEE A WIDER PICTURE BUT STILL SUCKY NIGHT VISION!

SO I DID MORE RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT, THAT THE BETTER THE NIGHTVISION DISTANCE IS =THE BETTER THE CAMERA SETUP!

SO I RETURNED THAT BOX AND FINALLY GOT THE SWANN DVR PRO SETUP WITH 8 PRO CAMS AND THE IP SETUP=VERY HAPPY WITH THIS SETUP! CAN SEE EVERYTHING I WANT AT NIGHT TIME WITH MOTION SENSE AND HAS A GOOD WIDE ANGLE CAMERAS...AND IT HAS LASTED WITH THE NASTY HEAT WE HAVE AND MOONSOONS...SO ALWAYS PUT UR MONEY ON THE CAMERAS!

ANOTHER PERC THAT HAPPEND BY PURE CONICIDENCE WAS,
WHEN FRIENDS COME OVER AND SEE MY TV WITH THE CAMERA VIEW..THEY PAUSE AND STARE AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN SAY= I WANT THE SAME EXACT SETUP FOR MY HOUSE!

I QUOTE THEM UP AND HAVE DONE OVER 6 COMPLETE SYSTEMS SINCE INSTALLING MY CAMERA'S LAST YEAR=THE CAMERA SYSTEM HAS PAID ITSELF OFF LOL

AND AS FAR AS ALARM SYSTEMS, I STRONGLY RECOMEND THE ALARM BOX THAT DOESNT RECQUIRE THE LANDLINE..YOU WILL BE SURPRISE ON HOW MANY LANDLINE ALARMS THAT DONT GO OFF WHEN THE LANDLINE IS UNPLUGGED...GET THE ONE THAT DOESNT RECQUIRE A LANDLINE...AND AS FAR AS FIRE/SMOKE ALARMS..THERE ALL THE SAME PRETTY MUCH..JUST INVEST ON REALLY GOOD BATTERIES, SO YOU DONT HAVE TO WHIP OUT THE LADDER SO MUCH FOR VAULTED CEILINGS..

HOPE THIS HELPS :)
