Where do I buy bump keys from?

Postby Ascendancy » 18 Oct 2012 13:53

Hi I'm trying to find a reputable site to buy a Schlage SC4 and SC20 key from. Sadly, every time I find a site that offers them I do a quick Google search of the site only to find multiple reports of scamming I.E. "I ordered X product from this site, they took my money but I didn't receive anything. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SITE."

Can anyone recommend a site that they've dealt with and had a good experience with?

Thank you.

Have only seen SC1 bump keys for sale. I don't use bump keys because I prefer picking. Also, bump keys can be destructive to the locks.

Also, I have looked at every site that was recommended in the beginner post and none of them have bump keys.

There is an SC1 in this set, but no SC20:

Larger selection here (still no SC20 though):

Just make your own using a code cutting machine.

An SC19 will also do in place of an SC1.

I don't have access to a coding machine.

Just FYI, SC19 and SC20 blanks don't make for very good bump keys.

Very thin.

I realize I'm generalizing here, but people who bump tend to have less patience than people who pick, and sometimes be more heavy handed. That's a bad combination with paper-thin key blanks.

So what would you suggest? an SC1 and an SC4?

A short hook and a tension wrench.

10 points to MBI. True to form both for himself and the site.

Look I came on to this site hoping to get some help. I understand most of you are into lock-picking as opposed to the presumably "less true" form of using a bump key, but all I was asking for was some advice.
