Tri-Circle Padlocks

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

tri-circle

Postby ^herman^ » 5 Oct 2004 9:55

tri-circle is easily opened with a beer can shim. I have the 264 it has more than enough spacing on the shackle.

Just drink a can of lets say Heineken. And after you’re done. Cut it like this:

and pop its open.

If the lock doesnt open the first time, do I have to drink another beer until it does?

I bought a set of padlock shinks ages ago from I think SouthOrd. Although they recomend you just use them onces (well they would) I have been using them over and over again for a few years.

They come in 4 or 5 different sizes (both length and radius). Incredibily easy to use, and very fast, even with double locking shackles.

Tricircle are nortorios for excessive spacing around the shackle, although shims work on around 80% of padlocks I have come across in the UK! (obvioulsy excluding lever operated).

Billy-Whizz: Just curious, are your tri-circles brass or iron? There is a huge difference between those two models..

padlock-shims

Postby Mick-III » 13 Dec 2004 7:53

Does anyone have pictures of their padlock-shims with some sort of measurment, i would be interrested in applying the beercan-shim with some commercially available radius info to make them usable in a more reliable way on my series on Tri-Circle :D

tri circle

Postby mup » 30 Dec 2004 19:42

my friend, tri circle is the be all and end all of everything here in belfast, every shop, factory, case, night safe, bike, has them, as such i have aquired a vast quantity of these locks on my practice boards, to date i can only pick the smaller ones........ I think there is more to the tri circle than we think, i will gather some more info

I sugest we take this topic to a new level, and dig deeper, it would be interesting to find why thri circle is proven so hard to pick,

oh yea and i like the sound of using a shim, ill have to try it,

When i start a lock i cant set it a-side untill its picked

nice topic, keep it comen 8)

there's just something magical on those iron models
I can pick a 5-pin abus faster then a 4-pin iron tri-circle
Oh wait! I just remember I have a 3-pin iron circle that I was going to make a cutaway lock but I'll just cut the whole thing with a dremel and then I can see what's in those things..
