Views of Cutaway Locks

Postby GWiens2001 » 29 Oct 2012 18:28

Paid a visit to a locksmith here and asked about cutaways. Naturally, he did not want to sell any, but he gladly showed me his personal collection and allowed me to photograph them. My son absolutely loved seeing the pics, and thought you might, too. Unfortunately, none of these belong to me. :(
First, here is an Abloy cam lock

Next, a brass Abus padlock

Now an American A701

The dirtiest lock of the bunch, an American 5200 in DESPARATE need of a cleaning!

From a different locksmith, 3 pics I've had for a while, an ASSA Twin

Anybody wanna see a Miwa? If not, skip the next picture.

And finally a Master 175 combination lock.

Hope you like them! Feel free to add your pics to this topic, too.

wow, those are really awesome! thanks for sharing those with us. Im jealous of all you people who live in towns large enough for locksmiths to have a brick and mortar establishment. looking forward to seeing images of other cut aways...

Just a standard pin tumblr, not very exciting, but a nice specimen none the less.

@catsoup, did you make or buy that mortice? It looks really good. I might just repost the ugliest cutaway ever for the amusement of all.

Its one of the older ones available on lockpickshop.com

It wouldn't be so very hard to do yourself, if you had a mill / router.

ABUS copy of Master 175- cams

Postby callbt » 8 Nov 2012 16:03

Here is a few pictures of the bottom of the ABUS version of a Master 175 lock that started to malfunction on the first dial- would not keep it's location with respect to the cam. These cams are very thin and packed between positions 1&2 then 3&4, making it very hard to use the feeler gage method for finding the code.

Ok will have to learn how to post the images...

You must also learn how to start a new topic instead of hijacking thread of totally different case.

But welcome to the forum, look at these first:
