What is on your key chain?

Postby gswimfrk » 4 Nov 2012 0:29

Hello Everyone!!

This weekend, looking at friends' key chains I thought it would be interesting to see what keys everyone has on their key chains.

I know almost everyone will have a KW1 or SC1

I have: Car key/remote, HID Prox fob, Schlage Primus CP, Schlage Everest C123, SC1, Keymark X4 7-pin, and Best E, 7-Pin.

Hmm. Well I've got a few key rings loaded up with keys, and although I usually only carry one with me, I have several others that make their way onto my person depending on what i'm doing that day. Here's the main ones, sorted by the frequency I take them with me:

keychain 1 (primary)
car key + fob
house key (kwikset)
mailbox key (canada post)

keychain 2
LSDA 6 pin
Abloy classic
Schlage Everest

keychain 3
Abloy Protec
Bilock fg
Medeco 4pin
Mul-t-lock 7x7
3x american lock 6pin
Best (L) 7pin
Falcon (G) 7pin

1 alarm/remote start remote,
1 American "puck" lock key,
3 GMC keys belonging to three different vans,
2 trigger lock keys in 2 groups,
1 small odd bit key for my ammo case,
1 flat steel for my guitar case,
1 Weiser,
1 Dom,
1 Unican comb change key, DF59,
1 Smartkey tool, also serves as a knob retainer tool,
1 Von Duprin 44 removal tool,
1 Master 175 comb change tool.

All hanging from my leather belt, into my left pocket at the end of a "stylish" Alchemy chain "decorated" with pewter skulls.
It goes well next to my skeleton hand belt buckle... :D

This seems like a good place to remind everyone not to have your important keys visible.
Alltho its not very likely, keys an be visually decoded from a photo or just by eye. A key can be cut later.
Be aware!

They are not visible unless in use.

My main set has my house and work keys on it:

Car key (SUB1) and fob

House:
-Schlage C145
-Schlage C 5-pin
-Master M1

Work (Basically masters to six buildings):
-Primus EP (Level 3G)
-Two different light switch keys
-Master M1
-Yale GE 6-pin
-Sargent LN 6-pin
-Yale G 6-pin
-Corbin 77 5-pin (SC1)
-Sargent RN 6-pin
-Corbin-Russwin 62C2 6 pin

I've also got a relatively large ring of older keys in the glove box that I think go to places that have been rekeyed (but I'm not sure, so I hold onto them). That would include a bunch of Schlage C, a few Corbin 77s, and an Arrow 1D (7 pin). Also has some that I use very rarely on it like a Best K, Best TE (both 7 pins), some Y11s, NA14s, etc. Don't actually have a Kwikset on either set, but I've got an AR1 on there somewhere.

Whoops, the Corbin 77 5-pin should say SK1, not SC1. I believe mine is actually one of the original masters to the 50 year old building it used to operate. The building was rekeyed (that's what the restricted 62C2 key is for, actually), but they left a little bit of the original hardware for some reason (some cabinets and closet doors), so I hold onto it for the rare occasions where I need it. Needless to say, it's extremely worn. When I first got it, I could barely make out the code stamped on the back, now you wouldn't even know there was a code.

I'm glad I'm not the only Ultili-key fan, it's a pretty awesome little multi-tool.

As far as my keychain, two Schlages, two Kwiksets, a Masterlock, a Kryptonite and an On-Guard bike lock and my Ultili-key.
