Does anyone know what lock manufacturer/brand belongs to this logo?

If memory serves it the OLD Silca logo.

Everybody has updated their logos over the last several years, but that one used to be on a lot of stuff years back.

Thank you all, I'll try and find out if it's Silca like you suggest.

On the subject of logos.

I have a key with an E then a 5 point start, and then an S on

so:

E * S

although the start is the "open" type.

Who is that?

I've a couple of these mortice locks sat on my table at the moment - taken off a rental repossession last week. Bugger to pick - my curtain wheel pick wouldn't go under the levers, so ended up taking the hardplate off (the door was knackered, and had a huge hole behind the handle plate) and lifting the levers through a convenient slot in the case (come across these before, so knew about the slot). The lock is similiar to the Walsall (SKS), but I've not had time to ID this particular manufacturer yet. Also, the bolt looks to be steel, not brass, so drilling on the right should be fun :D

hi rockford

if same as the wallsall , dont even try to drill for gate it wont happen, the bolt is so hard not even h/p drill bits cut it, we tried to drill one on the floor with loads of pressure, we got only 2mm drilled.

on right of door always drill for stump on these, you drill case only , once through you will see the square cut out in bolt, the stump is wedged in the square only, punch it out and open the door, you can then rewedge stump back in the hole and locks working again.

i guarantee you wont drill a hole through the bolt to get to the gate, on the lft drill for gate, and on the right drill case only for stump and punch it back.

if the wallsall it has 5 detainers instead of standard levers, they all sit very low which is why you cant get your pick under it.

Yes it does have detainers. Just been trying to pick it with 2 wires - my hands hurt :( .

I can remember you saying you'd tried to drill a Walsall, so I wouldn't even attempt it. Lucky these 2 were on the left.

Must ID them though, as I'm coming across a few of them.

Cheers

its getting harder to id, as abus also use wallsall as there bs lock , just under the name abus, they are becoming popular.

a general id point is the high gloss case finish , the shiney chrome curtain and the hard plate running in a straight square line above the keyway, similar to era, generally in gloss red if abus and gloss black in wallsall.

ive picked one with the belcher curtain pick, but you must only lift the binding detainer a fraction at a time, the anti picks in the top fence can be easily jumped out of and beaten, but those in the bottom fence stop you every time.

It was the hard plate that gave it away on the door - I remember you showing me it on a Walsall, and I went out and bought one the following day. What's stumping me is the E*S stamping on the face plate - would be nice to find out who's brand this is.

Looks like I may have to stump up for the Belcher pick then, if this is the only chance of picking it - or reach for the drill every time.

that , or perfect using 2 wires, though this is hit and miss till practiced. the belcher pick will do the job , but will also require practice, its not as smooth as your safeventures pick , but will get under those low levers, but not all of them.

i wouldnt stress too much on brand, if you was to buy £10k of them you could have your own faceplate. if its a wallsall inside thats all you need to id mate.
