Length of Gen 1 BiLock key

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Length of Gen 1 BiLock key

Postby iamthepiguy » 17 Nov 2012 7:24

I specifically need to find the length of the key for the 1st generation BiLocks, to be able to replicate it. I only want the length from the end of the handle part to the very end of the metal. The exact distance between the channels would be helpful too. Is there anyone who has a BiLock key and could measure it?

What are you trying to accomplish by having that data? Are you a lockie or is this a DIY project?

I'm not sure we can talk about BiLock in the public forum, it is a lock used to guard things, so normally discuss the details in our Members Only Advanced area where the people there can be trusted with having certain information that others may use for doing something naugthy or illegal.

Well, I bought one of their padlocks off eBay some time ago for locking a shed. The picture had the lock with the key, but I was foolish and didn't fully read the description, which said the key wasn't included (for whatever reason). I found that out when I received it, but as it was on the listing, I couldn't do much about it. Before the listing disappeared, I copied the pics that had the key in them, with a good view of both sides. However, there's nothing in the photos near the key that I could use to accurately find their length.

So yes, totally DIY, sorry if this isn't allowed on the forums. I can see how this could be aiding the illegal side of things.

I've managed to infer it from the pictures in one of the BiLock brochures I found online. It seems to be pretty much exactly 30mm, with the outside width of 4.5 mm.
