need help with Master no.532 lock

Postby anarchy_punk » 2 Dec 2012 23:09

Hi this is my first time writing on this so I'm a new member but I'm having trouble picking the master 532 lock and can't get it to open for the life of me. I know it has 2-4 spool pins but my tension wrench keeps slipping cause of the key way and also know to use very light tension cause of the spools so can anyone help me lol I don't know how you would rate my skills of lock picking but I can pick an American series 5600 lock in under a minute so lol so please help with this lock lol

Try either filing or using wire cutters to put grooves on the edge of your tension wrench. It helps it to grip the keyway, reducing slippage. Also, check if you need a slightly longer tension wrench end, if the plug is more recessed than others you have picked.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Firstly, please write your questions here without the nervous teenager "lol" stuff sprinkled throughout. Why put the "lol" multiple times after you ask for help? Is it that embarrassing to ask for help? We're all very helpful here, just ask your questions straight up, no need to be nervous or shy.

When I first started picking, the 532 was a lock that I couldn't open for a whole year. What does the key to yours look like, are the key cuts high and low? Are you getting a false set from the spools?

What brand pick set do you have and which pick profile are you using? (hook, half diamond, S rake, etc)

Look for my 532 thread, it may offer some help. Try top of keyway tension, and bounce/wobble the wrench in order to overcome the cam spring.

Hope that helps :D ,

nah, I just like things written in semi-proper English, not texting speak. Things like "ru ppl gunna help me, wut shud I do, lol, thx bai", just doesn't read well, even if some people can understand it. Since not everyone here speaks English as a native language it is important that we have our conversations in an easily readable version of it.

Sorry its a habit cause I'm using my phone but I'm using a short hook pick and this lock doesn't have keys. My landlord gave me the lock cause he lost them and he knows I'm trying to become an locksmith but over all I'm doing ssp cause that's the real skill of lock picking. Anyone can use jugglers or pick guns to open a lock but I want to master the ssp which I've been doing well except this lock

click on the link at the top of the page that says 'shop', find a nice basic pick set that meets your needs, enter LP101 to get a discount and start picking!!!

On the subject of 2 broken picks: quit that! go easier on your tools! I know its a natural tendency to get tense as you work through a lock (i do anyway), just practice staying relaxed. I had a really separating the force i was applying between both hands- it took some practice. keep on keepin on though and you will prevail against the locks.

try a simpler lock, like a kwickset, or something you can de-pin. start with two pin stacks and work your way up. dis-assembly is your friend.
