Suggested Euro Locks

Postby blakhal0 » 29 Nov 2012 11:55

I have a friend leaving for Denmark and France in a few days. I live in the states and planned on sending him with some money to pick me up some locks. Any suggestions on locks that may be difficult to find in the US that are sold in Europe? Or anything suggestions on models of locks to get?

Ruko oval cylinder $ in Denmark, and Fichet 787 $$ or F3D $$$ in France =)

I'm sure others will chime in with many more choices

In Europe you can find a lot of interesting locks.

Here you can see very nice french locks and keys. -> http://protectvol.online.fr/hautesecurite.html

I would also be interested in a couple of french locks. :D
Mess with the BEST, die like the REST!

I search: All magnetic locks (Miwa Magnetic, MagLok, Mottura MC), Trioving locks, Xylok, S&G 951, ...
I have: Swiss locks like Sea, Kaba and Keso, magnetic locks and some more :D

I don't know about the availability of Dom in the US but the German Dom Diamant is one adorable lock in my opinion.
The Austrian Evva 3ks is also fun. Evva MCS is also something special I think. But as far as I know EVVA-s can be bought in the US too. Maybe they are cheaper here.
If you don't have them I think they are any of them is a nice addition to a collection.

Squelchtone is right. If you are prepared to spend big money go for the Fichet F3D. Even the key itself is like a modern work of art. I've seen uglier modern sculptures in some very reputable museums.

I have the same trouble though.
I'm planning a travel to the Arabian peninsula. (UAE/Oman/Yemen/Quatar/Saudi Arabia/Jordan, nothing is fixed yet.) Anyone know got-to-get or at least interesting locks there?

What exactely are you looking for ? And what price range ?

If you're looking for normal 5 pin cilinders , I would suggest ISEO F5 (Italian , but sold all over Europe) , and our local Litto Select 5 (belgium).

If you're looking for more of a challenge , you could try a Pfaffenhain 6 pin (German made) , or an ASSA 7 pin (Sweden)

If you're looking for high security , I would suggest a Pfaffenhain V14 (ridicoulessy tight key way) , Abloy Protec (Finnish) , EVVA 3KS (Austrian)

For dimple locks , I would suggest Abus Classic (German) or Iseo R6.

Mottura just came into my mind. They are from is from Italy and they also have some nice locks. They are very much like Mul-T-lock so if that's not your cup of tea then they are not that interesting.
I'm not sure about their availability in the US.
I thought there was a mottura lock with magnetic elements in it, but I couldn't find it now. Has it been discontinued or am I just plain wrong and it never existed?

It does exist and it continues in their Champions series. The C28 that I know of.

Don't forget the Wilka, Zeiss Ikon and BKS. All three can be acquired as a 6 pinner.
Decent good locks if you ask me.
