I would like to hear from all of you experts, long time smiths, hobby pickers, and anyone else who might light to contribute.
Which HIGH SECURITY PADLOCK is the best and least compromised of all made in the last 50 years ? I have considered some models of the Sargent and Greenleaf and Hi-Shear as the top two, but would like other suggestions or possibilities.
Having study, disecting, and looking at the overall function and relative difficulty of cutting, punching, sawing, grinding, picking, and drilling, it seems to me that the Hi-Shear LK1200 made back in 1982-1983 would be extremely difficult to improve upon. Those things are literally built like modern warfare machinery, a solid cast casing machined from 4 directions with 3 of those plug welded, and a free spinning hardened boron shackle cored with carbide to resist any kind of cutting. I'm sure there are more pick-resistant mechanisms, but for brute strength, I think my vote is with the LK1200.
