pocket pick set ?

hi i was wondering about what would be a good pocket pick set for everyday carry i was looking for something that has a good verity of picks an is easy to carry i was thinking of something along the lines of the sparrow tuxedo set

and i already have a jack knife but i lost the tension wrench and can't find one to fit it

There is nothing wrong with the set you linked to. It's mostly about personal preference (handles and profiles). If that works for you then by all means go for it. I like the Peterson molded plastic handles myself but I own a bunch without handles too.

Which Jacknife? I know you can buy extra's for the Southord and Southern Specialty's sets which are both fairly popular.

The Tuxedo set is fine, as are similar offerings from other brands. You'll find you'll add bits and take some bits out as you move along. So think about the case so you have some flexibility. You could also find a case that suits your needs, and then buy individual picks. That's a bit more involved, but a nice option. Even if the extra work may be unnecessary.

About your missing tension wrench: Go down to an auto parts store, and look through their trash (or beg it) for a old windshield wiper. You want the metal strip that supports the rubber blade. Cut it, file/bend to your needs. It's an excellent sprung steel. Perfect for your needs. You will also have plenty left to make some extras for your set.

thanks for the help i am going to go for the sparrow set and as for the jack knife i have all ready tried that but they were to skinny

You can buy a replacement wrench for the jackknife, but you can just make one out of a wiper insert. The width has nothing to do with it, the little angled bend towards the end creates spring tension which is what actually holds it in place.

The tuxedo set looks good for EDC. Great variety of wrenches (and I'm sure there's space for a couple more), and the pick selection looks pretty solid. Half diamond, city rake, couple of different hooks... that'll have you covered for most stuff, then you've got a worm rake and basic snake for a bit of raking variety. Not too little, not too much, and there's nothing there I'd consider completely useless... so that gets my vote.
