Trial and error basically. If you have a caliper measure centerline of cut from the shoulder. Adjust as necessary for space. If calibrating for tip stop, measure from key tip. Depths again trial and error. Make a cut and measure the depth of your cut against specs and adjust as neccessary. Depth is adjusted by rotating the elliptical bar that depresses the gauge plunger. Space is a bit more of a pain as you have to loosen the retaining screws on the bottom of the arm assembly so you can slide it left or right as needed. I dont recall if there is a fine adjustment for space or not.
You can help get close faster using a key that is already cut and on spec. Put it in the vice and adjust space until cutter sits in appropriate cut for the space you are sitting in on the key. Depth can be adjusted the same.
Just an fyi, the calibration kit helps but isn't the greatest.
Make sure you always view the display from the same angle when adjusting.
