I've been a locksmith for about 18 months and I started taking the class after a year and they seemed to be easy for me since I've done most of the things already. The one thing i have to say is that it seem to be a little outdated material, not outdated just not as up to date as i figured it would have been. But I loved the older lessons because I live near 2 Historic Cites so I work on a lot of older locks. Hope this helps someone, because Foley-Belsaw is a great school and they are very easy to deal with.

Yep I've always been interested in how locks work and I'm interested in a career change so I'm still debating on taking the course just to get my feet wet so to speak.

i took the Foley-Belsaw program, it covered the basics very well and and made it fairly easy to get the certificate. which is a downfall in the job market. i dont get much respect for teaching my self the skills i know today, but the fact that i DO know these skills and i AM certified to practice still makes all the difference in the world! with experience comes the respect, the Foley-Belsaw institute offers tech support and has one of the best online product catalogs ive come across. an established company may prefer to hire a trade school student with more hands on experience, but those students often dont have as many useful resources to fall back on in times of need....and F-B includes most of the necessities a person would want to start their own small business from home or from their truck, which is IN MY OPINION the best idea for any locksmith starting out.

ive been struggling for over a year now to make a name for myself in the industry, and what it comes down to is what you CAN DO, and what you CANT DO. the background you came from has little to do with it after you have a some experience under your belt and can prove to your community that you can do quality work as good as the next guy!

Hey all. I'm new here. Been doing a lot of reading and thought I'd try the Foley-Belsaw course.
So I gave them a call today and asked about the $649 price. I was told no.. They said that they don't offer a lower price then the 7 hundred and something for a one time payment.
So I was just curious as to exactly what some of you said or did to get the lower price.
Or have they stopped offering it for the $649 with lower payments?

padalockwan: You bumped an old thread. That price was posted back in 2009. The price was only 599 in 2006.
