Master lock Pro Series 6621

Postby quickpicks » 6 Oct 2004 20:30

I have been practicing with a Pro Series 6621. I can set all of the pins inside, but when the plug turns it will not open. Is there some kind of security mechanisim inside this lock prevening it from opening? If so how can it be bypassed? The original core that came in the lock is still in there, according to my friend who let me borrow the lock for picking.

If it's anything like my new 6121, You have to pull up on the shackle while rotating the plug. The weather proofing on mine is very tight. Recently I have had to use a screwdriver to finish turning the plug because my tension wrench is losing some of it's original shape.

I have tried pulling on the shackle. this is an interchangable core 6621.
They are very different from a 6121.

I have a bigger problem now. I rotated the plug 180 degrees and now they are wedged inside the keyway. I cannot push one of the pins back down because there is a forign object stuck in there.

That foriegn object might be one of the driver springs.

I don't know how this might have happened. I have been able to rotate the plug of my 6121 360 degrees after picking it.

Does anyone else have any idea what happened to Quickpicks 6621?

Hmmm...I wonder if that foreign object is a master pin....a very thin one..Can you get the cylinder out?

I have heard of really thin master pins been "bounced out of place by pickguns.

some really thin ones that lockwood use can be turned by picking gently, it's quite annoying

This object is really small and will not allow my key to work in this lock (there goes $40. ). The key has pushed it all the way to the back of the lock. It almost looks like a really thin brass disc. does the plug have to be turned more then 360 degres on theese models or did this one screw up?

If it's a real thin brass disc, then it's most likely a master pin...your best bet is to try and get that piece out of there, turn the plug BACK to it's locked position and pick again...or drill the plug out and buy a replacement....no need to toss the lock itself.

I have a Pro Series 6327 and I picked it open. I rotated the plug the wrong way and now all the pins have come out in the keyway. It's been a pain to get them to go pack in, I'm gonna try making a special tool for the job. Wiper blade inserts and a grinder...

I probably did turn the plug the wrong way. I never would have expected it to be master keyed. I think it had all spools. Very hard to pick one at a time, but it would literally open in seconds with scrubbing and light tension.

I just got a plug follower to fit my Master 6121. Took the thing apart, and found spool pins in #'s 1, 2, 3, and 4. Number 5 had a pin that looked like it should have been a spool, but it was never machined all the way. The bitting is 1-5-1-5-1. Upon seeing the spools, I now realize why I've only been successful 25% of all my tries at it.

6121

Postby daedalus » 7 Mar 2005 16:59

I also have a 6121LJD. Weird thing is it's not listed on Master website. The only difference is it has 6 pins. First 5 pins are spool and the 6th is as you described. Anyone has an idea why the last pin has the marks like a spool, but it isn't grinded?

It's a nice lock to practice on spool pins as it's easy to repin with fewer pins and work from there.

This one sounds interesting. Do you have a pic? The last pin could be a shroom.
