Just ordered pin tumbler jigglers

Ok folks!

I just placed an order for South Ord pin tumbler jigglers. Will let you all know what I think after I have had a little time to play with them! :D

That video is what got me excited. I'm going to call them this morning and see if I can get 2 day air mail via UPS. Other wise it will be ground and will take about a week... :?

Yes I liked the video too!

Please check if they fit and work well on very tight keyways and in really cheap locks. I sometimes find it more difficult to pick those really cheap locks than a good one. That would be a great addition to my set :D

Fgarci I bought a jiggler set back when I was at the very beginning (haha that means like 3 months ago:D ) and I haven't found them really sueful. I often meet paracentric keyways, I think even the simple ones are paracentric here in Europe. The most common keyway I meet is the E1R para which already restricts the use of jigglers. (There are lots of very tight keyways here too.)

So there are very very few occasions when you can use them, but again, my experiences are very limited.
I mean in an ideal case they work well, but there are so very few of those ideal cases. Your money it much better spent on saving for a real good set of picks or maybe even on beer :D.

(I'm just about to invest in some peterson picks. Not that I need them,of course, the locks I can't open won't open just because of peterson picks,
but I've been longing to try them for ever:) )

But don't let that let you down daniel22747, I'm sure you will find use for them:). I for one don1t have the southord jigglers, maybe they are better than the ones I have. I also don't know where you live, but as far as I know roomier keyways are a lot more common in the US.

For example the locks in the video seemed to have a pretty straight keyways to me. Although the American 5200 (it wasn't named but I think the padlock is that one) is an impressive feat. It not only filled with spooled and serrated pins but also has serrated key pins!
I'm an admittedly bad picker,I'm generally clumsy, wit that said, American lock 5200 gives me a hard time.

Anyway, so that American padlock opening was nice. (Well, I'd expect the guy in the video to be a pro :D.)

So let us know hoe they work for you Daniel! I'm curious. :)

I called Southord and set up 24 hour over night (order a bunch of other stuff too). The UPS sight says they will be here by 10:30 am. So I will mess around with them over the weekend.

I have some regular auto jiggler and I agree they are not good for most pin tumbler locks. However I have a collection of mailbox locks that are pin tumblers and they do work really well on those. Otherwise I use my auto jigglers on my collection of cheap waffers.

These new jigglers of south ord do look to be more complex and varied so hopefuly they will be usefull. I have only one lock in my collection I can not pick yet, a stanlley door knob, that seems to be a very high tollerance lock. So I am hoping these will work on it.

Just started messing with them today.

Working pretty good so far. Have been able to open ever lock I have tried them on. I have even been able to use them to pick that stanley door knob that I could not pick yet, but only once with that guy so far.

Will report more later....

Could you post pictures of them with a ruler?
Or anything that we can see their size?

Have you tried them on narrow keyways?
Glad you're having fun with them!

Ok,

This is how I would view them so far. These are probably best used as back up picks. In most cases standard picking tool would be faster and more easy to use than these guys. However it you have a lock that is not yeilding well to more conventional methods give these guys a try. It may take a little time, finding the correct one and jiggling it around, but in many cases they will open the lock.

They do seem to be good for opening lock that have high tollerances. Even then it may still take a minute or two of jiggling around to get it open. I have had the best luck so far with door knob locks and deadbolts. Padlocks have been a somewhat harder, but this may get better with more practice.

Size wise they are just slightly larger than auto jigglers, but not by much. For some reason they look a little larger in that video. They do however fit in the side pocket of a standard pick case, but it may be a little tight.

The only real downside to these guys is that there are so many. It can be a bit of a pain going through all of them. I think in time it will turn out that some are more useful than others so you could trim down how many you carry in your case.

Humm, if they fit in your gear, don't let any of them "at home".

I mean, eventualy you will learn which ones you use the most and start by them. But if the others are there, it's for some reason. Some locks respond better to them. So you will only use them when everything else has failed. But you will use them.

That is if they fit there. If you don't have room for all of them, of course you should choose only the important ones :D

Very cool...
I just bought a 7 pin security bag at Office max, the kind where the lock snaps over the zipper.

Picking the 7 pin lock was difficult with a standard short hook and tension wrench, but one of the pin tumbler jigglers opened in in about 4 seconds!
:D

Can you post videos? Or a link to them?

I would be great to see them in action

WOW.
Either are the keyways a lot roomier in the US or my jigglers are crappy, but no way will mine fit into any high security lock. Mine won'T even fit into a E1R para (is probably = yale A1)...
And the defo doesn't open the 7 pinned security locks nearly so fast.
Is it possible that I use them the wrong way? Is there even a wrong way to use them? :D
What's the your way then? :)
